I checked my blog stats this evening. As usual I got light search engine traffic for my Bacon Wrapped Stuffed Chicken and Pinewood Derby posts. But I also noticed something else. I apparently have been “pinned” on Pinterest. What the heck is that?

1. The sport of choice for the urban poor is BASKETBALL.

2. The sport of choice for maintenance level employees is BOWLING.

3. The sport of choice for front-line workers is FOOTBALL.

4. The sport of choice for supervisors is BASEBALL.

5. The sport of choice for middle management is TENNIS.

And….

6. The sport of choice for corporate executives and officers is GOLF.

THE AMAZING CONCLUSION:

The higher you go in the corporate structure, the smaller your balls become.
There must be a ton of people in Washington playing marbles!

Summer 2011 Weather

They called for average temperatures and “not at as bad as 2010,” but I guess I forgot how hot it was last summer. We are all feeling it this year. Everyone I know all over the country is complaining. But with a level of humor and acceptance if the pictures below are any indication.

I think the last picture just about sums it up. I’m right between the U and the M.

My billing cycle starts on the 19th of the month. I dropped the current disc out in the mail this morning. They’ll have it tomorrow. I don’t think now is the time to hike up your price 60%. But I’m not in charge over at Netflix.

There are a lot of other options out there people. I recommend you take the time to either:

a) adjust your plan so you don’t automatically get charged the price increase (if applicable)
b) cancel your membership NOW and look at your options.

I may go back to Netflix at some point. They do keep your que for 2 years so you don’t have to rebuild that if you do choose to go back. As for me, I have a Playstation 3 so I can rent SD or HD movies from the Playstation Network without a monthly charge. I just pay for each rental individually.

A Roku box is another inexpensive option. I always used either my PS3 or Wii to stream Netflix. You can use the Roku box also. Roku lets you rent movies on Demand from Amazon and access Hulu, Pandora, Crackle and more. It’s worth checking out.

I loved this book! As I read Henry’s story it wove it’s way into my heart. I didn’t know it would from the synopsis on the back of the book (figuratively since I read the ebook). I might have even welled up a bit as it drew to it’s sweet conclusion

Book Review – The Girl Who Kicked The Hornet’s Nest

The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet’s Nest by Stieg Larsson

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I loved it! Awesome closure to the Millenium Trilogy. I LOVED the courtroom showdown. Blomvkist’s sister, Advokat Giannini, kicked ass! My only recommendation would be to read this one right after finishing The Girl Who Played With Fire. This novel picks up right where that one left off. I had a little trouble remembering all the characters from the 2nd book when I started this book. I picked it up and it was fine, but if you can go from one right into the other, like say…The Vampire Lestat straight into The Queen of the Damned, you’ll be in good shape.

Book Review – State of the Onion

State of the Onion by Julie Hyzy

I wasn’t too impressed with this book. I chose to read it because one of my favorite mystery authors read it and liked it. The story wasn’t that great and the author litters the book with words that have been out of use for 200 to 400 years…which I find totally unecessary.

Happy New Year!

Welcome to a new year! My resolution for 2011 is to straighten out my job situation. I obviously hope for an improved economy and job market for the new year. But it might be a couple more years before we see that.

Since I travel a lot to get to and from work I have been thinking recently about the feasibility of having the picture below blown up and applied to my rear window as “tint.”
